A Cuban medication, denominated Heberprot-P, unique of its type in the world for the treatment of severe ulcers in diabetic patients with amputation risk, is extended to the Primary Attention of Health, with excellent results in the whole country.

A wire from the Cuban News Agency quotes Doctor Ernesto Lopez Mola, director of projects and business of the Center of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) that directs the program of the Heberprot-P, who announced that this service will be offered in all the policlinics in coordination with the Centers of Attention to the Diabetic.
The specialist highlighted that the medication has been applied to more than two thousand Cuban patients with resistant complex ulcers to all type of conventional treatment and in the clinical rehearsals it has demonstrated its security and effectiveness in the scaring of those wounds in more than 80 percent.
According to the World Health Organization in the planet there are more than 170 million people suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, figure that might be duplicated in next years and will cause more deaths than the AIDS.
Annually in Cuba more than one thousand amputations are carried as result of the diabetes, so the product has come to solve this problem.
